About The Potato Foundation Team

Two passionate young women manage the organisation - Esmarie Robbertse is the Managing Director and Eugenie van den Heever is the Financial Director. They are assisted by a group of dynamic people. Together they form a focussed team aiming at delivering the highest standard of service both to clients and volunteers as well as organisations identified, leaving a mark of contribution and sustainability.

"Don't wait for the world to change, change it yourself." (anonymous)

To change the world has always been a dream of mine and that is why my dream will be realized at The Potato Foundation. I am Eugenie van den Heever and I assure you that community service is my passion.

I completed my B.Com Accounting Science studies at Potchefstroom University (today is known as North-West University) in 2003. I followed up this degree with a degree in formal education. During this period of study, I learned how to give a part of myself to welfare by being part of the Students Rag Community Service. This lasted for 5 years. In my final year as a student, I was elected to the student council as chairperson of the Student's Rag Community Service committee. During this time I was given the opportunity to gain valuable experience in management, problem-solving, communication and project initiation.

Currently, I'm an accountant where I will use my experience gained to manage the funds of The Potato Foundation as Financial Director. This will be done in such a way to reach this institution's goals.

Welfare has always been a lifelong passion and I plan to achieve this by doing the following: "The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it." (anonymous)

I am an attorney who specializes in children's rights and family law. I studied at Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education at which institution I received my B Proc degree. I furthered my studies in completing an advanced diploma in International Child Law at the Vrije University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) and master’s degree in Children's Rights at the University of Pretoria in June 2005.

My passion in life is children because through their eyes you see the world differently. My wish is that each child (and volunteer) would discover his/her Godly purpose through Potato and be the CHANGE in their community. We are only the instrument to show them how much God loves them. What a privilege!

Position in firm: Project Leader

This past year I have been really amazed to see how Father God brings certain people together…

I am Landie Haasbroek and I’m a proud mom of two beautiful girls. I believe that difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.

I’m honoured to be part of the Potato Foundation’s team, where I’m currently the Project Leader and this past year has really been life-changing. It’s amazing to see how Father God uses the most unqualified, kind-hearted and loving people to make a difference in someone’s life.

I love my work, I love the people I work with. I love to see how Father God just happens to send the right person along the way to help someone else. How beautiful friendships are formed where there once was just pain.

As the Project Manager I see some hard and difficult lives, but the biggest blessing is to see how people care for one another. The Potato Foundation logo says the following: “encouraging expectations”, and I stand in awe at just how Father God provides for that expectations.

As a qualified Graphic Designer, I am rejoicing today because I found so much more – family, friends, love and the opportunity to learn and make an amazing difference not only in my life but all those I come in contact with. I am truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful team here at “The Potato Foundation”, and to work with caring, loving and positive people.

I love the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart and have a great passion to share God’s love with children. I have experienced huge trials in my life and my relationship with God carried me through them all.

During my greatest trials I lost two of the most precious gifts God had given me; a son who passionately loved the Lord, at the age of 20 and a daughter, aged 5months who never came home from the hospital.  The most painful goodbyes are the ones that are never said and never explained.

I held a tiny little mustard seed in my hand, thinking that is the amount of faith I have left, will I ever smile again? By His grace, God nurtured the little mustard seed I held with so much hope. As you put your faith in God to break you, mold you and make you what He's created you to be, the Potter will make you an amazing work of His hand.

I was blessed with a wonderful husband and a precious daughter.

My mission is to share the message of God’s love to others with words of encouragement, faith, hope, and love.  I want God to use me to touch the lives of others with the trust, hope, and encouragement that He has empowered me with.

He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name. Psalm 23:3
